Madhesh 2030 · 2040 · 2050

The conversation Madhesh must have now is about its economy.

Madhesh Next is a citizen-led, non-partisan campaign to make economic possibility a subject of everyday public conversation — in all 8 districts and 136 local governments of Madhesh Province.

Why Madhesh Next?

It is time to put the economy at the centre of the conversation.

For decades, Madhesh has had an intense political conversation — about identity, representation, citizenship, federalism and power. That conversation remains important, and it should stay vibrant.

But another question can no longer wait: how will Madhesh create the jobs, enterprises, productivity and prosperity its people need?

Where will young people find meaningful work? What can a municipality actually do to encourage enterprise? What can Madhesh produce competitively — for the national market, and for the markets across the border?

Madhesh Next exists to make that question impossible to ignore.

The questions we want asked

  • What can our municipality do to create jobs?
  • What local businesses could grow here?
  • What skills do our local industries need?
  • What could Madhesh produce for the Indian market?
  • How many jobs were created here last year?

Let us be plain about this

Madhesh Next is not about…

  • Madhesh versus the rest of Nepal.
  • One community versus another.
  • One political party versus another.
  • Replacing the political conversation.

It is about something simpler: making economic opportunity, productivity and prosperity a central concern of public life in Madhesh Province — and making that conversation useful to Nepal as a whole.

The citizen instrument

Ask. Measure. Follow up.

Don't ask only what your government plans to build. Ask what economic result it will produce — then ask again next year, and hold the answer against the promise.

  • How many jobs did this project create?
  • How many new businesses were registered here last year?
  • How long does it take to get a business operating?
  • What are we producing competitively?
  • What skills do local employers actually need?
  • What is our municipality doing to attract investment?
  • How much local government money goes to economic development?
  • What changed because of last year's budget?

How Madhesh Next works

Act · Organise · Ask · Know

Everything the campaign does is one of four things. Every district chapter does the same four — so the work is comparable, repeatable and easy to join.

A growing group, one question

Madhesh Next is not yet a formal organisation, and we are not pretending otherwise. Five people convene it today, and the group is growing across the eight districts.

Madhesh needs better economic questions.

Start with one question. Ask your representative. Ask your municipality. Ask your province. Then ask again.
